You gotta admit, the movie "Blood Diamond" is one of the most hardhitting movies to come out of Hollywood in recent times. Though there will be many mindless entertainers that may relieve your souls of anxiety, these films come about with a knockout message, reminding us that people are suffering and dying, and that as we were born in different lands and situations, we are fortunate enough not to be one of them.
I watch films of any language, as long as they are good. I dont care what dialect they speak, how goodlooking the actors/actresses are, or the budget or genre. I just want a good story. Some fiction, some on true events. But when you sit with someone and watch a film, and he pats on your shoulder and tells you that he has witnessed in real life what is being shown on-screen, then you take up a completely different perspective on things. Those actors, are suddenly not acting anymore, and emotions may set in. Which is why i m writing this today.
Hollywood comes up with some gems, though rarely, that showcases what many would not know. I applaud directors who make a movie for the sake of social responsibility, and to expose atrocities in certain parts of the world. I wish i could make films too, so that i can bring several nagging issues to light.
Some good films I can recommend are "Constant Gardener", "Syriana", "An Inconvenient Truth", "No Man's Land", and to an extent, "Fahrenheit 9-11".
But the main thing which i would like to do is to highlight certain issues that may be causing problems to the world and society through my blog, and hope that it brings a change someplace, somewhere in the world. It is the least that I can do to my society. Thank you.
